On 8 March 2024, Vertebrate Zoology published a research article “A new living species of the genus Ctenomys (Rodentia: Ctenomyidae) from central-western Argentina” by Alvarado-Larios et al. (https://doi.org/10.3897/vz.74.e115242). On 11 December 2024, an Editorial Expression of Concern (https://doi.org/10.3897/vz.74.e144189) alerted readers that doubts have been voiced about the validity of the cited Research Permit (RES ANP EX-483484-2020) for the investigations by Alvarado-Larios et al. (2024). In the meantime, two decisions (resoluciones) have been issued by the Provincia de Mendoza, República Argentina, that resolve this situation (RESOL-2025-623-E-GDEMZA-BIOECO, RESOL-2025-644-E-GDEMZA-BIOECO) in combination with a letter by Nuria Ojeda of the Ministerio de Energía y Ambiente, Subsecretaría de Ambiente, Provinicia de Mendoza, República Argentina, dated to 11 February 2026 (NO-2026-01111240-GDEMZA-ENERGAMB). The authors have corrected the Acknowledgment section of their paper as described in the Corrigendum (Alvarado-Larios et al. 2026, https://doi.org/10.3897/vz.76.e194570). This change has addressed previous concerns, which is why Vertebrate Zoology has rescinded the Editorial Expression of Concern.
